CDPAP program is an alternative way to receive care from a loved one.
NO LICENSE REQUIRED!!
Your son, daughter, grandson, granddaughter or family friend, etc. can assume caregiver responsibilities at your home.
Under New York's CDPAP, patients can self-direct their home health care and choose a caregiver that they know and trust. Instead of the discomfort of a hired stranger, you can be appointed and paid to give your loved one the care he/she needs.
Any patient who qualifies for Medicaid and requires home care, personal care, or skilled nursing services can sign up for the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP).
Consumers must require assistance with activities of daily living or skilled care and be self- directing or have a designated representative that is willing and able to direct care as per the program's requirements.
No. The caregiver will not need any kind of formal training, license or certificate to be employed.
Needs met by the CDPAP program include assistance in feeding, dressing, house cleaning, personal hygiene, basic medical needs, transportation to and from medical appointments, and any other task with which the patient directs his/her aide to help him/her with. A caregiver may also assist with medication reminders.
